Forks, Fog, and Friends

Elpis' arrival at Cayo Costa was like being on an episode of Storm Chasers, except the storm was fog and it was chasing us. An ominous bank of clouds rolled over the water toward us, inching closer and closer as we pushed Elpis faster toward the anchorage. We managed to dodge the fog and time our entrance into the anchorage with Syzygy, who sounded out depths and helped us choose a good spot to drop the hook.
This was the first time we had seen Dan and Donna of Syzygy since Mobile, AL, and as we often judge our life choices by asking WWDD (What Would Donna Do?), we were thrilled to be reunited. We spent a fabulous ~24 hours with our friends shell-searching on the beach, eating more of their world famous burgers, and taking a speedy powerboat ride over to Cabbage Key for lunch (has this become a food blog yet?).
Thank you to Dan and Donna for sponsoring our blog advertisement at Cabbage Key, where dollar bills have been taped up all over the walls. Thank you also to Dan for using restaurant resources to double the number of forks Grace and I own. We now have six forks, which means we can have up to four friends.

Scenic walk home from the beach

Grace spent an evening playing Christmas songs on the keyboard for us. I serenaded the anchorage with some Pirates of the Caribbean while dinghy-ing to and from the boat.
